One question that arises often for me when making decisions (and often on even mundane decisions) is, "Am I being motivated by fear." Even when deciding to eat a bit of food, I might suddenly stop and analyze whether or not I'm really interested in eating something, whether I'm preparing for being unable to eat at a later time, or if I'm having some instinctual reaction to hunger which is fear related. Whenever I find fear motivating my actions I tend to slow down or even stop, and try to understand what my true intent is.

Hmm... I can use this. Do you mind if I include it in my book?

If I have a behaviour I don't like, I generally try to study it to death.

Once I figure out the motivation, I can normally easily get rid of it.

What I'd do for that is more of random guesses thsat 'make sense' until I get to what 'fits'.

But that's sort of like a 'why am I making a decision I don't like and how can I back track' than a 'how do I make a new one'
