Those are amazing. I loved the last one with the big pillars inside. It's sad to see them falling apart if for no other reason the craftsmanship.

Yeah. I'm amazed that they havened been put to different uses - like barns or something. :dontknow:

I so agree with the craftsmanship. Most of those would have been sitting idle since what, Stalin? And they're still in (relatively) good shape ...

On a slightly related note, here's a bunch of photos of abandoned, dilapidated gulags in Northern Siberia (the blog is in Czech, but it should be pretty much self-explanatory).

Wild. I can see why those would have been harsh places to be in the middle of a Siberian winter, what with the plaster walls inside and out ...

I love the weaving they have on some of the walls.
