I know it's half a year away for the Northern hemisphere, but it's right on time for those south, and I was thinking about it earlier.
We have a ritual for Imbolic that is my favorite ritual. Of them all.
We sit close together at the table in the evening, with a wooden plank and a huge pile of those shabbat candles for the grocer. We each take a hadful of candles,a dn we carve into them the names of our dead--- ancestors mostly, then friends, and some tradgedies that affected us. We talk with each other while doing this, and then we heat the bottoms of the candles and stick them onto the wood. Then we light them, saying the name of the person.
While the candles burn down (about an hour and a half) we sit at the table, watch them, and talk about our dead.
I think it is both beautiful and touching. My mother always mentions that some day, our boy will be lighting a candle for her.
I hope so.
