:director: Please note that, in addition to the ability to mark specific topics to be watched (i.e. you get an email when a reply is posted), you can now mark an entire forum to be watched, which will alert you to new topics being started therein. I would -not- suggest that you mark the Newsstand as one to be watched unless you’‘ve plenty of server space ... :cheeky: I will be seeing what I can do to tamper with the code to make it such that you can opt to just ‘‘see’‘ those notifications (in your profile or somesuch?) rather than get the emails. Don’‘t expect it too soon, though, I’‘m afraid ...

Okay ... I finally got up the nerve to tweak the code ...

You should notice a change to the appearance of links. If you don't, you may have to clear your cookies for the board, or just wait a while for the cookies to be forcibly renewed through timeout-y things ...

Either way, let me know if there are any issues ...

This is partially a test and partially an announcement;

The phpbb update somehow nuked almost the entire last year of posts.b :confused2:

I'm working on fixing it ...

:director: Okay ... The auto update code I tried to run last night decided to prune almost the entire last year's posts. The code backup for the board, it turns out, does NOT back up the database as I thought it did, so I'm looking to get a backup from the sysadmin.

Any posts put in now may be lost, but I'll do my best to transfer them after.

Sorry everyone ...

And ... PM's seem to still be working ...

And, since I've not got chat back up and working and there seems to be an issue with posting new threads ...

Feel free to post in this one to chat and such ...

ANy update?

It's weird to see posts listed under new posts yet not show up when you go to click on them.

The server's db monthly rollover was last night -after- the update's sql calls nuked ~9000 posts, so our sysadmin is seeing if he has a download someplace. Even if it's a month or two back it'll be better than where it is now. I may have to do a clean install after, since I've still not figured out what's causing the issue with posting new topics ...

I'd like to say that at least I'm learning, but ATM I'm having issues staying upbeat over this.

But I've learned my lesson. No more automatic updates of php-products. Every single one of them has caused me issues ... :angryfire:

Absolutely.

It was apparently part of an 'update' to bring the SQL code that it had brought up from v.2 in the last update to the current v.5, and somehow it cut off everything that it had updated in the first place.

That's just malicious.

And, I take some of the blame for not realizing I had to back up the dB separately from the code. :banghead:
